In the last few years, I have ridden the roller coaster of small business ownership. From shutting down completely at the beginning of Covid to moving to a storefront in downtown Vancouver, to taking some time to really consider where I want to focus my professional energy, it has been a necessary reset that I’m incredibly thankful for. One of the best things to come from this time has been a blossoming collaboration with furniture designer/woodworker Helen Helfand of Helen Louise Design. Helen returned to her native Portland after studying fine woodworking at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Maine and working for several high-end furniture makers in upstate New York. Like most woodworkers, Helen is a huge fan of pop star Harry Styles. When we saw the sofa on the front of his latest album, we both loved the design, and decided to create and sell our own version of the iconic 70s chrome loveseat: |

| We’ve been getting a great national response for the project (including at Curbed and Surface!), and are excited to introduce it to our PDX community at large. This is a design that is perfect for a living room or parlor, a boutique hotel or salon, an urban loft or an eclectic home. The ergonomics and foam densities are dialed for a super comfortable sit. Plus, if you live in the area, you can make an appointment to come sit for yourself! In addition to helping fund future designs from me and Helen, 8% of proceeds from the project will go to Crafting the Future, a nonprofit that helps diversify the arts by connecting BIPOC artists with opportunities that will help them thrive.
